Greg’s Groceries

Greg’s Groceries is the only multi-agency, statewide initiative of its kind in America.

Founded in 2017 to honor fallen police officer, Greg Alia, Greg’s Groceries has provided thousands of boxes of non-perishable food to individuals and families in need. The overall goal of Greg’s Groceries is to provide a resource to police that may not otherwise be available. Greg’s Groceries boxes are intended to create opportunities for positive, non-enforcement interactions between police officers and community members while fostering an environment to enhance trust. Since the inception of Greg’s Groceries, over 85,000 meals have been delivered by 73 departments across South Carolina, including a partnership with SLED. Greg’s Groceries is the only multi-agency, statewide initiative of its kind in America. Every box is packed with love by local police officers.

Greg’s Groceries is Serve & Connect’s signature initiative of our Compassionate Acts Program. With packing days scheduled throughout the year, Greg’s Groceries focuses on providing as many boxes as needed to our statewide law enforcement partners. The map below shows where our partners are located throughout South Carolina. Each year, we hope to increase the number of participating departments.

Story Behind the Logo:

Before going into law enforcement, Greg worked in Hollywood on films like Indiana Jones and Iron Man. The artwork in the logo is Greg’s actual drawing of himself and his friends. Before becoming a police officer, he was offered a job at Marvel Studios but elected instead to follow his calling to serve others.

When people get these boxes they will feel the care of law enforcement and communities working together.
